This material is literally made out of apple. Food waste from apple juice production is dehydrated and ground to a flour, the raw material to create a hide of Appleleather. Subsequently, the raw materials are shipped to a factory and processed into leather like material.

Piñatex

Some of the popular luxury brands have featured cruelty-free products made from this material. Piñatex is made from pineapple leaf fibres that are normally thrown away after harvesting the pineapples. The leaves are then dried before taking the fibres out of the leaves. Once cleaned and rolled, the raw material is sent to a plant for further manufacturing processes that give the material leather like characteristics.

Mushroom is another great leather alternative made from mycelium. Mycelium is a vegetative part of mushroom consisting of a network of fine white filaments. This type of leather could grow into a specific size and shape. When used to make a product, the finished item can be waterproof and chemical-free.
